March 2015

Greetings from Paraguay!
FEBRUARY IS THE ‘SHORTEST MONTH OF THE YEAR’ BUT WE PACKED IT RIGHT UP TO THE LAST DAY! With each new month we are amazed at the amount and variety of work and situations that demand our attention…but that’s what keeps it so interesting! We thank God for His wisdom.
On a personal note:
(Happy February Birthday’s to Kaleb and Jamie! Love you, Papa & Grammy)
**THE HOLA CLUB CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL:
During the month of February: we shared and prayed with 432 PARENTS AND CHILDREN, with 181 PEOPLE CHOOSING TO PRAY THE PRAYER OF SALVATION!
TESTIMONIES:
Marí wept as she recently shared about the provision of God for the children and parents in the cancer wing of the hospital. There have been times in the past that there was only popcorn to prepare for the meals. She then laughed when she told how she instructed the parents to pray and lead them in a prayer ‘for the hearts of the rich’. She asked God to speak to the hearts of the rich to provide for the needs. RESULTS? A truck arrived with so much food and supplies that they are looking for places to store it!
We never know what challenges we will face at the hospital…but one thing we do know, God can handle whatever comes our way! Dolia and her team encountered a 14 year old drug addict, at first she resisted the Word, but as the ladies continued to tell her of God’s love and salvation, she decided to pray the prayer of salvation.
LIFT THE CHILD UP IN YOUR PRAYERS; THAT SHE DOES NOT FALL BACK INTO THE STREET LIFE!
During the same visit, Dolia ministered to a five year old boy from the interior. His father said that he would turn on the TV to cartoons to entertain his son while he worked. One day while the boy was watching a cartoon his behavior suddenly transformed, he began acting like an animal. For a month, the child refused to eat or drink, to the point he had to be hospitalized. At length, Dolia and her team prayed for the child. Forcefully the child demanded that they leave; he did not want to listen to them. The boy had a strength that was beyond his age and began pushing Dolia away. Finally, the Holy Spirit told Dolia to ask the child if he would repeat the Word and prayer with his father. Together they prayed and at the end of the prayer, the child mumbled ‘AMEN’ ! In that instant, Dolia said that the boy seemed to ‘wakeup’, his face and body language changed and he began talking calmly with her. God had set the child free!
AS ALWAYS, PLEASE PRAY FOR THE HEALTH AND SPIRITUAL PROTECTION OF THE HOLA CLUB VOLUNTEERS.
**PRISON MINISTRY:
TESTIMONY:
Pastor Victor had the opportunity to visit the federal prison in Encarnación, a city on the other side of the country. It was his desire to contact one of the former students from Asunción that had been transferred a couple of years ago. To his joy, he found that FERMÍN was strong and serving the Lord in the new prison. He was also pleased to encounter several other inmates that he had ministered to before. But, what pleased him the most was to find that a group, from a local church, were entering the prison twice a week to minister to the inmates with the Word of God! God is faithful to care for his sheep!
PLEASE PRAY THAT MORE OF THE MEN IN PRISON EXPERIENCE A LIFE CHANGING FREEDOM IN GOD’S LOVE AND WORD.
**CEB CHURCH:
SPECIAL GUEST:
We were honored to have a special guest speaker on Sunday, February 15, EDWARD HERMOSILLA who ministered to our congregation in a unique manner about the importance of the Godly Family. As Edward share the message that God had placed on his heart, he proceeded to paint this picture. Thank God for gifts and talents that He has blessed his children with to minister and encourage one another. At the end of the service was a ministry time for families.
PRAY THAT THE PEOPLE TAKE TO HEART WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN TAUGHT AND PUT IT TO WORK IN THEIR HOMES AND LIVES.
ACTIVITIES:
Weddings and Baby Showers have been the most recent activities to keep us busy.
In Paraguay it is the custom in marriage to have the ‘legal ceremony’ with a judge and then the ‘religious ceremony’ with a pastor. We have been busy preforming the ‘religious or blessing’ part of the ceremonies. We are planning a BIG RELIGIOUS CEREMONY for the whole church later in the year for the couples who have never had their marriages ‘blessed’. That should be fun!
Of the four new baby boys born into the church between July and December of 2014, only little Isaias Daniel was able to attend our Baby Shower. He was a perfect gentleman as we cooed over him, prayed, laughed and enjoyed our cake! The next Shower will be held in August for the new arrivals born between January to June… there will be about four babies for that event too. What a fun way to ‘grow a church’!
PRAY FOR THESE YOUNG BOYS, THAT THEIR PARENTS WILL TRAIN THEM TO BE MEN OF GOD. AND, PRAY FOR THE LITTLES ONE STILL ON THE WAY.
CONSTRUCTION:
Our congregation took on the project of enlarging the open air roof, and the work continues as weather and the welder’s schedule permits. The first phase was to be finished by now, but ‘yesterday’ seems to always be ‘tomorrow’. We are thankful that the work has been started and will be the first to let you know when it is completed!
PRAY FOR PATIENCE AND A FINISHED WORK!
SOZO CLASSES:
The SOZO classes continue as we learn how to minister to those that are hurting and asking for help. As we study the materials presented, we have found that the Ministry SOZO has been based on the Word of God, forgiveness and love. Even though we will not officially start the program until the training is completed, Pastor Bette has used some of the ‘ministry tools’ as she has ministered in the Counseling Department. She has been very pleased with the end results and the people have expressed their joy and thanks as they have received the help that they were seeking. God is training us to reach out to a hurting people and meeting them at the point of their need!
PLEASE JOIN US IN PRAYING THAT AS A PART OF THE BODY OF CHRIST, WE CONTINUE TO GROW: SPIRIT, SOUL, AND BODY …WITH A HEART THAT REACHES OUT TO OTHERS!
Blessings – Jerry and Connie
