Greetings from Paraguay!
During October, for those of you who are in the Loveland, Colorado area, we will be introducing our Paraguayan Pastors Victor and María (Marlene) Cardozo! God has provided the way for the Cardozo’s to attend the “School of Missions”, being held at Resurrection Fellowship in Loveland October 16-26. This is an exciting event where representatives of REZ Supported Missions gather from around the world. This is the very first trip to the USA for Pastor Victor and Marlene, and they are excited. For months the CEB Church has been raising funds, giving offerings and rejoicing at the opportunity to bless our pastors. Jerry will be traveling with the Cardozo’s, arriving in Colorado on the 11th. When they return to Paraguay on October 31, he will continue on to Guatemala to attend the bi-annual Living Water Teaching Directors Meeting, returning to Paraguay on November 18. Pastor Beatriz Centrón and Connie will remain in Paraguay, keeping the church and ministry flowing as normal. Don’t worry, we will not be alone, the Church Board Members will be working alongside of us, teaching and ministering during the numerous weekly services.
*Pastora Marlene shared with the ladies group that, 19 years ago it was spoken over her ‘ THAT ONE DAY SHE WOULD MINISTER THE WORD TO THE NATIONS’. She feels that this word will begin to come to pass as she and her husband have the opportunity to minister while they are in the USA. With a huge smile, her counsel to all was: “ NEVER GIVE UP ON THE WORD THAT GOD SPEAKS TO YOUR HEART … GOD ALWAYS FULFILLS HIS WORD !”
WE ARE PLEASED THAT THE PARAGUAYANS HAVE RISEN UP TO PROVIDE FOR THEIR PASTORS AIRFARE, VISAS, TRAVEL INSURANCE, CHILD CARE FOR THEIR FOUR CHILDREN, AS WELL AS PROVIDE THEM WITH SOME ‘FUN MONEY’ FOR THE TRIP. PLEASE PRAY FOR SAFE TRAVELS FOR ALL THOSE TRAVELING FOR THIS SCHOOL. PLEASE PRAY IN AGREEMENT FOR AN ABUNDANT SUPPLY OF ‘EXTRA FUNDS’ TO MEET THE MANY ADDITIONAL COSTS THAT WILL BE INCURRED ONCE IN THE US.
**THE HOLA CLUB CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL:
During the month of September, we visited the Children’s Hospital 4 times, sharing and praying with 258 parents and children, with 131 people choosing to pray the prayer of salvation!
**Five years ago, we had the privilege to pray for the newly born, Carlos Jeremias. At the time little Carlos suffered with a huge hernia and spinal deformation. The doctors gave very little hope that he would live, and ‘if’ he did, he would always be bedridden. The young mother, Tarciana, prayed and rededicated her life to God with us at that time. Over the years we have stayed in contact with Tarciana. One day in August she and her husband showed up at our office just to say ‘Hola!’ Tarciana stated that she has never walked away from her faith since the day that she prayed and rededicated her life those five years ago. She was excited how, the ‘now big Carlos’ continues to improve, as you can see in the pictures; Carlos not only can sit up, he is happy. Carlos continues to have physical handicaps, but he has come far with God’s help and they are keeping the faith for even greater things!
**Pastor Beatriz shared that during our last visit, she entered a room which housed four young men ranging in the ages between 12 to 17 years old. All four of the young patients suffered from a different extent of deformity, but, each one had clear and bright minds. Pastor Beatriz said that this was one of her greatest blessings, to be able to present the Word and love of God to these four young men, which they clearly understood and chose to pray with her!
**Anavela, 5-years old, was hospitalized with a severe case of intestinal worms. Her condition was such that she had entered into a state of deep depression, refusing to speak even a word to her mother for the last 8-days. The Hola Club volunteer presented Anavela with ‘our little gift bag’ that contained coloring sheets, crayons, a finger puppet and a balloon. To the amazement of her mother, Anavela immediately sat up and began talking as she carefully colored the pictures. Needless to say, that was one momma who was willing to listen to the presentation of the Word!
IT WOULD BE GREAT IF WE COULD SEE IMMEDIATE HEALINGS AND TRANSFORMATIONS IN THE BODIES OF ALL THE CHILDREN THAT WE PRAY FOR , BUT THAT ISN’T ALWAYS THE CASE . BUT , ONE THING WE KNOW , THE WORD , LOVE AND KNOWLEDGE THAT THEY ARE RECEIVING WILL NEVER LEAVE THEM AS THEY WERE ! JOIN US IN THANKING GOD FOR WHAT HE IS DOING IN THE HEARTS AND BODIES OF THE CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES . PRAY THAT THERE WILL BE NEW HOLA CLUB VOLUNTEERS THAT WILL RISE UP TO ANSWER THE CALL TO ‘LAY HANDS ON THE SICK AND SPEAK FORTH WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT’.
We are blessed to have 3-couples that represent our church in serving with the Gideon Ministry. They are: Roberto and Mari Baéz; Martín and Beatriz Sosa and Abel and Cristina Yegros. The Gideon Ministry is formed of business men and women that dedicate their time and finances to present Bibles and New Testaments to school children, University students, military members and police personal. The Gideon’s enter into hospitals to handout the Word to the patients, as well as place the Bibles in hotel and motel rooms. The volunteers are instructed to ‘NOT PREACH only handout the Word’…and there are many testimonies of how the Word Itself is preaching and lives are being changed! Recently, two of the couples were able to attend a nationwide Gideon Conference in Encarnación, which is on the southern side of Paraguay. They returned ‘pumped up’ from the Word and testimonies shared during the conference sessions. If possible, they now have even a greater zeal to distribute the precious Word of God!
**During the last outing in September, the couples from our church handed out New Testaments in several hospitals in the area. Their day began at 6:00AM and continued until 5:00PM, during which they passed out 4,000 New Testaments… a record for their team !
**Norma, a member of another team, shared that her first experience in handing out the Bibles was at a hospital. At one point during the time she began to question what she was doing… not at all sure that this was her calling . Entering in a room where an elderly man was struggling to breathe under an oxygen mask, she quietly started to lay the Bible on his bed. Much to her surprise, the man suddenly reached out and grabbed her arm! He said he had just asked God to send a sign if he would live… and God had sent an angel! She was ‘his angel’ and now he had his answer! The man regained his health and returned home. Norma has now changed her mind… she IS called to handout the Word of God!
JOIN US IN LIFTING UP ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN AROUND THE WORLD WHO MINISTER WITH THE GIDEON’S . OUR DESIRE IS THAT MORE OF OUR CHURCH MEMBERS FINDWAYS TO REACH OUT TO THEIR NATION OF PARAGUAY WITH GOD’S WORD AND LOVE .
Blessings – Jerry and Connie
