March 2011

Dear Friends and family,

March, this month we would like to share with you concerning some changes in the life of one of our long time Staff members, Edgar Nuñez.

Edgar has been with us the longest of our seven staff members. He came on staff 13 years ago, in December, 1998, as our office secretary. He still does some of the secretarial work, but he has studied and has advanced to become our ministry accountant.

Edgar is a very talented young man… a bit of a jack of all trades also! Over the years he has worked in almost every area of the church ministry: children, youth, adults, Bible School, and church services. There was a time when we didn’t have a musician attending the church, so Edgar taught himself to play the guitar and lead us in the singing! He would be the first to admit that for a time he made more noise than music, but together we worshiped God joyfully.

We have entrusted Edgar with much responsibility over the years, especially when we have had to leave the country to return to the USA. He and other members of the Staff have taken over many of our responsibilities, reporting to us weekly, if not daily, on what was happening in our absence. Edgar is one of those that you would need to replace him with 2 or 3 others if he ever decided to leave! That says a lot, right?

There were two occasions in the past when we thought… he’s going to do it; he’s going to get married! But no, they didn’t work out… that is until this year! Yes, Edgar met the ‘love of his life’, Rut Espínola, while attending night classes at a Christian university, studying accounting. On Sunday, March 27, 2011, we were privileged to attend their beautiful wedding held at the Iglesia Bautista Luz (Baptist Light Church). The bride was lovely and the groom grinned from ear to ear… the whole time!

Now, we have two very anointed and talented young people serving together in the church. Weekdays Rut works in the accounting area of the Baptist University in Asunción, but on weekends she is at Edgar’s side in the church services. Rut has expressed a desire to work with the children, so we are looking forward to plugging her into the Sunday School Department.

We are thankful for the gifts that God has blessed us with in the lives of Edgar and Rut. We are looking forward to more years of working together, but who knows… God has a way of promoting the faithful ones!

Thank you for standing with us, like Edgar, you too have been faithful!
