¡ The Year to Rise Up !
Dear Friends and family,
We would like to introduce to you the newest member of our church staff, Beatriz Centrón de Sosa! Hermana Bette (Sister Bette), as she is known in our church, has taken on the great responsibility of the Church Visitation Department.
Bette is a graduate and regular teacher of the CEB Bible Institute. She is a strong woman of God that loves people and loves to minister the Word. Bette and her husband Martin Sosa have been married for 20 years and they have four teenage children, Vivian, Arnaldo, Nadia and Rodrigo. They have also opened their home to little Alejandro, 6-years old, whose parents couldn’t care for him.
One day Bette came to our office to inform us that she was looking for work. At that time, we were not hiring but thought ‘what a blessing she would be to any staff!’’
In the CEB Church we had seen the need of someone to coordinate a new visitation program, but the job would require that the person attend our church. For some time we had been praying, watching and listening for just the right person to fill this position. The name of Bette kept presenting itself to us, but because she and her family attended another church, we would quickly dismiss the thought. Finally, after listing all of the requirements we deemed necessary for this special pastoral care area, only Bette seemed qualified to fulfill the position. We made an appointment with Martin and Bette, to present our job proposal. We asked that they take a month to pray and talk with their pastor. We are pleased to report, at the end of the time allotted, they were in agreement that Bette should take the job and that the family would begin attending the church.
What a blessing, hiring Bette has proven to be one of the best decisions that we have made! She spends hours visiting, counseling and ministering in situations that would have ‘fallen through the cracks’ for lack of time. We told the church body that it was for the ‘love of them’ that we were placing Bette on staff, and they have received her and her ministry with open arms.
God knows what we need before we even ask! Jerry and Connie White.
